Ramp Up Your Business This Summer!

Now that Memorial Day is over, we are quickly moving into summer mode.  For many businesses, summer is our slow season. And although we all enjoy some time to relax, it’s also a great time to do things in our business that we put off when we’re busy. Here are 5 marketing projects that can reap big rewards if you work on them this summer…

1. Develop Content

Summer is a great time to develop content for social media, newsletters, blog posts, etc.  Writing content, finding photos, and posting, all take a ton of time. But while you have the time, you can do a lot of this work and save it for when you need it. You don’t have to use it right away.

2. Develop a Database

Compile a list of current and potential client email addresses and enter them into MailChimp, Constant Contact or a similar service. If you have this information already in an excel spreadsheet you can easily download it into these programs – it only takes a few minutes!! Once you create a database you can begin to connect with clients and potential clients in a whole new way!!

3. Write Newsletters

Email marketing is a very effective way to communicate with your clients and potential clients, especially if you share content that they will find valuable. This is a great way to build your tribe.  Be sure to include links back to your website so that you can direct people there to learn more about your business.

4. Create a Video

Unless you’re a professional actor, creating a video is very time consuming!!  Most videos are cool and authentic and look like the person just turned on the camera and did it in one try, but that rarely is the case!! Most business owners I talk to, tell me they do it 20 or 30 times until they are happy with it. I’m the same way…it takes me forever to get it right!!  The summer is a great time to create a video for your website. If time allows, do a few to include in your email marketing too!

5. Update Your Website

How long has it been since you looked at your website? Time moves fast and we don’t always look at our website. Take a look at it with fresh eyes. Does it still reflect your business accurately? Does it describe your business in a way that people will understand? Do you have any offerings that need to be added? Now is a great time to make those changes so that when the busy season hits, your website will position your business accurately.
