Why You Need a Personal Brand

There was a time when creating a brand for your business was enough, but that’s changed. If you’re a business owner, you need a personal brand as well.  So before you start thinking “I don’t need something else that takes up a lot of time and doesn’t make money” ….read this.

Here’s why you Need a Personal Brand…

1. It Let’s You Control Your Image

Your brand is what people think of when they think of your business. So if you’ve been in biz awhile your customers and business associates already have a perception of you. Do you know what that is?  By creating a personal brand it allows you to create the perception you want, because if you don’ create it, they will do it for you.

2. Tell People Why You Are Different

Creating a personal brand gives you a chance to explain to the world what you do that’s different from everyone else out there. It helps clients and potential clients see what makes you unique and what value you bring to them.

3. It Helps Generate Leads

People like to connect with people on an emotional level. They want to do business with people they know, like and trust. Even if people (i.e., potential clients) don’t know you personally, they may feel they know you through your speaking engagements, social media, blog posts, etc. If through these interactions they feel you can help solve their problem, or fill their need, they may contact you.

4. Establishes Your Expertise

If you are constantly out there saying that you are an expert in something (and you can back it up), then people will start to believe it. For example, if you are continuously posting and speaking about wellness, then when a member of your tribe wants to lose weight they will come to you. A personal brand allows you to tell the world what you’re an expert in!

Building a personal brand won’t happen overnight. It takes time. Lots more to share on this topic so watch future posts for more thoughts.
